Lights, Sound, Action: Enhancing Productions With Audio-Visual Tools

Hello and welcome to my audio visual blog. My name is Trevor, and throughout school, I used to handle the audio-visual needs for our theatre group. I helped with light design, ran the lightboard for many shows, played with the lights and organised projections. Now, in my career, I routinely give lectures and training seminars to corporate groups, and I rely on my old audio-visual skills to make those presentations special. I'm not required to do that as part of my job, but it's something that I love to do. It gives all of my presentations an extra edge. If you've got any sort of presentation or performance coming up, I invite you to explore these ideas and posts on audio visual.

3 Considerations when Buying Shower Speakers

Taking a shower generally a mundane activity for most people. However, this may not be the case for some people as many homeowners are finding new ways of injecting life into their bathrooms. Shower speakers are one additional feature you can add to your bathroom that allows you to listen to your favourite music or podcast or even answer calls as you take a bath. Here are a couple of factors that you need to consider when buying shower speakers.

Mounting Options

When buying a shower speaker, your top priority should be keeping it as safe as possible. For instance, placing a speaker on a bathroom vanity should be the last thing on your mind. The most popular mounting options for shower speakers are suction cups and hook brackets. Shower speakers with suction cups are arguably the safest because they remain in place even when water splashes around the device. Speakers with brackets on the back are also a great option, but you must ensure that hook is strong enough. If you do not, the speaker may fall. Another option that is popular in bathrooms is built-in speakers, where a device is installed in the ceiling or wall. However, the option takes time to implement and costs a premium.

Built-In Microphone

While it is great to listen to music when taking a shower, it is even better to answer or make calls. However, some people may believe that they do not need the feature in their shower speakers until they experience the convenience accorded. For example, shower speakers with built-in microphones allow you hand-free control of your phone. It ensures that you do not miss important calls while doing your make-up or taking a shower. However, make sure that the microphone is top-quality. Most importantly, shower speakers with quality built-in microphones can pick up your voice amid different background sounds such as splashing water.

If you are buying a shower speaker, it is only logical to get a waterproof one, not just a water-resistant one. The reason is that shower speakers are exposed to sustained moisture over long periods, increasing the chances of leakages. It might explain why water-resistant shower speakers do not last as long. On the other hand, waterproof speakers are generally impervious to water. As such, you can mount them close to a showerhead. If you choose to do so, ensure that the shower speaker you purchase has a high Ingress Protection (IP) rating.
