Lights, Sound, Action: Enhancing Productions With Audio-Visual Tools

Hello and welcome to my audio visual blog. My name is Trevor, and throughout school, I used to handle the audio-visual needs for our theatre group. I helped with light design, ran the lightboard for many shows, played with the lights and organised projections. Now, in my career, I routinely give lectures and training seminars to corporate groups, and I rely on my old audio-visual skills to make those presentations special. I'm not required to do that as part of my job, but it's something that I love to do. It gives all of my presentations an extra edge. If you've got any sort of presentation or performance coming up, I invite you to explore these ideas and posts on audio visual.

Choosing the Perfect Headphones for Your Lifestyle

Choosing a set of headphones might seem to be a simple choice, but when you start looking at all the options available, the decision can become almost overwhelming. Do you want tiny earbuds to fit in your ears? Would small on-ear headphones be more convenient? Would you like large over-the-ear headphones for a better sound experience? Where do noise cancelling or noise isolating headphones fit in?

Each of these styles has their defenders and there are advantages and disadvantages for each type. Any headphones you buy will ultimately be a compromise between comfort and sound quality.

Headphones also have an impact on how you can engage with the world around you. How isolated do you want to be? Do you want to concentrate on the music, or must you also be aware of the world around you?

In-ear headphones

For many people, in-ear headphones are the obvious choice. Whether you prefer universal earbuds, or ones which have been custom-moulded for you, you can buy earbuds that cut you off from the noise of the surrounding world and let you focus on the music. Ear-buds are good for immersing yourself in music, but sometimes you need to be aware of your surrounding environment. If you don't like having headphones in your ears, you'll likely be more comfortable using over-the-ear headphones.

Over-the-ear headphones

Over-the-ear headphones vary a lot in size and design. The smaller styles, such as those produced by V-Moda and Koss, offer a limited degree of noise isolation, but larger over-the-ear headphones are more comfortable and provide a superior sound quality. Closed-back headphone models work best for restricting outside noise, but many users claim that the stereo quality is better with open-back models, such as those from Sennheiser and AKG.

What about noise cancelling headphones?

Some people love noise cancelling headphones and the crisp, quiet musical experience they offer. Other people find them uncomfortable to wear for a great length of time due to the sound pressure on their eardrums made by the noise cancelling waves.

Your personal choice

Everything headphone related ultimately comes down to a matter of personal choice. The style and variety of music you enjoy is unique to you as an individual, and the way you choose to listen to that music is also a personal choice, and the headphones will affect how you favourite music sounds. Find a set of headphones from a business like Tivoli Hi-Fi Pty Ltd that offers maximum convenience and musical enjoyment for your lifestyle.
